Elder offers two types of placement - fixed length and ongoing.

Fixed-length

A fixed-length placements is typically used for respite care or to cover a primary carer whilst they’re on a break. These placements vary in length, but there will always be an end date.

Ongoing

Carers on an ongoing placement will typically be considered as the primary carer for their client, however, the defining feature is an intention to return to the placement at regular intervals for the foreseeable future. Carers are typically expected to stay with their client in cycles of 4 to 10 weeks and then return after a break. When applying for ongoing placements, carers can state their preferred work schedule and will be able to arrange breaks upon arrival.
