Will I be provided with food during my placement?

Elder suggests customers provide food on the placement in line with what is usually bought for the care recipient. Please note this may not include food that is appropriate for specific dietary requirements.

It is up to you and the customer to decide how the household food is to be managed.
When viewing a placement advert on the ElderHub, you can read about the relevant food arrangements in the ‘Care Environment’ section. If this information is not listed on the placement advert, please speak directly to the customer.

When applying for work be sure to check the placement advert for food allowance as this will vary per placement. Some customers prefer to give carers a ‘food allowance’ between £30-40, either in person or in addition to carer's weekly pay to organise groceries. Certain customers might prefer to buy food themselves and therefore 'food allowance' will not be provided.
