Phone usage
Mobile phones should never be used while you are providing care and support to a Care Recipient. You must make sure you engage with and talk with the Care Recipient ensuring the Care Recipient can hear and understand you, particularly if sharing important information. Mobile phones should only be used when on a scheduled and agreed break unless there is an emergency.
Social media usage
We understand caring for someone can be lonely at times and social media can be used to connect with loved ones. Accessing social media should only be used on a scheduled and agreed break.
Sharing or live streaming a person’s image or audio or video recording on social media or in other digital or physical public locations is a violation of our Carer Standards and may prompt further review of your Elder access. Live video streaming or sharing pre-recorded videos inside or outside of someone’s home requires explicit permission from the customer and Care Recipient. This ensures respect for their privacy and personal space, safeguarding against potential misuse of the footage. Obtaining permission is not just a necessity but a fundamental aspect of maintaining trust and respecting personal boundaries.
You must maintain confidentiality and not at any time disclose information of a confidential or sensitive nature. This includes any personal identifying information, address (including geotagging), medical conditions, and photographs. By not protecting and respecting the Care Recipient’s right to confidentiality, you may be breaking GDPR and UK data protection laws.
Once you have left the placement, you should not contact the Care Recipient, Customer, family or other self-employed carer unless specifically asked to do so by them. Delete all of their contact details from all of your devices.
Elder monitors placement feedback for quality assurance purposes. Violation of this policy can result in removal of your access to the platform.
