A profile picture builds trust and credibility with prospective clients

Updated over 2 months ago

We strongly encourage all self-employed carers on the Elder Platform to have an up to date profile picture. They help you to introduce yourself to prospective clients alongside your placement applications.

Your profile picture

Alongside your name, your photo is one of the first things that customers and clients will see on your profile. An up-to-date picture builds trust and credibility. The following steps will help to make sure your photo is high quality and professional:

  1. Show your whole face: Face forwards, straight at the camera. Include your head, shoulders and upper body. Make sure nothing is covering your face.

  2. Use a plain background: Take the photo against a plain, light-coloured background. Be in clear contrast to the background and avoid a shadow.

  3. Take it on a quality camera: A phone camera is fine, but try to use the main camera rather than a front-facing 'selfie' camera.

  4. Get someone else to take it: You're more likely to get a high-quality image if someone else is taking it!
