Right to Work in the UK

Demonstrating Right to Work on the Elder Platform

Updated over 8 months ago

All carers on the Elder Platform must demonstrate their right to work in the UK as self-employed. How you evidence your Right to Work status in the UK will depend on your nationality and what kind of permission you have to work in the UK.

If your Right to Work expires, you will need to provide Elder with a copy of your renewed documents. If we do not receive renewed documents or evidence that you have made an application with the Home Office to extend your visa before this date, we will restrict your access to view, apply and go to placements. In some situations, we may remove you from placement if you're unable to provide renewed documents in time.

Please note: as an introductory agency we can only offer roles to those who are registered and have the legal documents to work within the UK. We cannot offer tier 2 sponsorship at this time.

If you're a British or Irish Citizen

For British or Irish citizen, you can prove your right to work in the UK with either of the following:

  • a British passport

  • an Irish passport or passport card

Your passport or passport card can be current or expired.

If you do not have a passport or passport card, you can prove your right to work with one of the following:

  • a UK birth or adoption certificate

  • an Irish birth or adoption certificate

  • a certificate of registration or naturalisation as a British citizen

Together with one of the above, you need to provide a National Insurance number document. This must show your name and National Insurance number

If you’re not a British or Irish citizen
